City of Westover Goes Green

The City of Westover, WV, like most WV cities, has dealt with potholes and road problems for years. Monongahela Avenue, parallels the Monongahela River, famous for its falling banks, has been a unique problem. Traffic from businesses, trucks and residential traffic all use the street. According to Mayor Dave Johnson, “It seemed like every couple of years we’d be back fixing the same problems. We really were pouring money down a hole. I heard about Mechanical Concrete® for roads and looked into it. I saw how well it was working on coal haul roads in Monongalia County and we decided to try it. It is economical compared to traditional construction and the fact that it’s a very green product reusing a major waste was also a motivator.”
